For the past few days, dense fog and extreme cold have made life difficult in Bardiya. People are forced to stay indoors after the cold wave and cold wind blew since morning.

Four days have passed without sunshine. The freezing cold has caused problems throughout the day, especially for wage laborers.

Due to the fog, there has also been a problem with vehicle movement on the roads during the day. The traffic police have requested drivers to drive with their lights on even during the day.

Due to the extreme cold, some have started buying firewood with their own investment and making arrangements to light fires in the squares. Dr. Subhash Pandey, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Bardiya, said that the number of patients with cold, cough, asthma, fever and pneumonia has increased in the hospital due to the cold.

‘Since the onset of winter, 300 to 350 patients have been coming to the hospital daily,’ he said. District Disaster Relief Committee Coordinator and Chief District Officer Gogan Bahadur Hamal said that firewood, warm clothes and blankets will be distributed to needy families in coordination with the municipality.
