Mohan Thapa of Nepali Congress has been elected as the ward chairman of Purvi Chowki Rural Municipality-6 in Doti. He won by getting 468 votes in the by-election held on Sunday.

According to the information provided by the election officer's office, his nearest rival Dev Bahadur Thapa of Nepal Communist Party (UML) got 301 votes.

Also Janaki Kumari Khadka (Kunwar) of National Independent Party got 31 votes and Devi Lal Thapa of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center) got 26 votes. 

According to the election office, 13 votes have been invalidated. 839 votes were cast in the ward with a total of 1,593 voters. Earlier, the candidate of Nepali Congress won the ward president in the local elections held in 2079.
