Govinda Panthi, the candidate of the National Independent Party, who was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Gulmi Constituency No. 2, was previously in the police service. Panthi was elected by defeating former minister and UML leader Gokarna Bista. Panthi got 16,967 votes while Bista got 16,406 votes.

Panthi has also played an active role in clarification and training workshops in various places in Nepal on various issues related to human trafficking and drugs. He has been providing free legal aid to the underprivileged who are deprived of legal services. Which has brought him closer to different sections of society. He said that Batule's experience while serving in the police service and being involved in social work will help him work responsibly in Parliament.
