Aren Rai, who has been involved in social activities while being associated with various organizations, has set a journey to the House of Representatives on behalf of the Shram Sanskriti Party.
Rai, who has worked in the Unemployed Association, Nationalist Center Nepal, Mongol National Organization, etc., defeated UML candidate Dev Bikram Rai by a margin of 3,898 votes. Aren won by getting 16,612 votes.
Dev Bikram got 12,714 votes, Birkaji Rai of the Nepali Congress got 11,957 votes, Hari Roka of the Nepal Communist Party got 9,443 votes, and Rudra Giri of the National Independent Party got 5,704 votes. There were 15 candidates in this election, including two independents.
Rai, who became the winner from Khotang, was involved in various campaigns, but was not in mainstream politics. He came after serving as the general secretary of the Shram Sanskriti Party with its birth. Rai, who was involved in various social and political activities including the 2070s Unemployment Association, Nationalist Center Nepal, and Mongol National Organization (2074–2080), is the founding general secretary of the Labor Culture Party.
Born on 2053 in Sumde, Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality-1, Phedi, Rai completed his SEE in 2069 from Shanti Nikunj, Kathmandu. He has completed his studies up to grade 12. Rai was also involved in business including contracting, hotel and restaurant.
Rai said that along with politics, he was also involved in other professions to earn income. ‘I have experience in contracting, hotel restaurants, and business,’ Rai said, ‘Even to do politics, you have to earn money.’ Rai said that he will now work with honesty in parliament, fight corruption, and work for good governance. ‘I won’t talk much – I will work with honesty, fight corruption, and work for good governance,’ Rai said.
