Deepak Raj Bohara, a candidate of the National Independent Party, has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Kanchanpur Constituency No. 2 under the House of Representatives election. Bohara, who has been active in television journalism for a long time and has raised issues of public concern, has achieved parliamentary success in a short time since entering politics.
According to the final public vote results, Bohara has won by securing 33,952 votes. His nearest competitor, Congress candidate Narayan Prakash Saud, has secured 10,827 votes. UML candidate Bachan Bahadur Singh is in third place with 6,418 votes. Similarly, NCP candidate Madhav Prasad Panta came in fourth place with 6,337 votes.
Out of a total of 1,09,574 voters, 64,881 votes were cast in this constituency. Of which 36,386 are women and 28,495 are men. A total of 59.21 percent of the vote was cast here.
Journey from journalism to politics
Newly elected House of Representatives member Bohara had been active in television journalism for about 18 years.
While working in media outlets like Nepal Television, Nepal One Television, News 24 Television and Galaxy Television, he had highlighted various national and public interest issues. Bohara, who has been raising various problems and concerns of society through the media sector, has recently entered active politics.
Bohara has also expressed his commitment to strongly convey the voice of the people to Parliament and to continuously take initiatives for the welfare of the region.
