Initially affiliated with the Nepali Congress, Bista left the Congress and embarked on an independent political campaign with a team of youth. He has formally joined the National Independent Party since Shrawan 2079 BS. He is currently the party's Kathmandu District President.

Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate Bista has secured a seat in the House of Representatives by defeating Nepali Congress candidate Himal Karki by a margin of 29,369 votes.
According to the election results, Bista has secured 37,469 votes while Karki has secured 8,100 votes. 25 candidates were in the fray in this constituency.
According to the election data, there were 83,301 voters in this constituency. Out of them, 60,151 votes were cast and 2,093 votes were invalid.
Who is Pradeep Bista?
51-year-old House of Representatives member Bista is a resident of Dudhpokhari in Kirtipur. His father Krishna Bahadur Bista has been involved in the tourism business for a long time. Bista has studied from People's Campus to ICOM.
His family also has a long political background. His uncle Ram Babu Bista was the Pradhan Panch in 2033, 2038 and 2043. After the establishment of democracy, he became the president of Champadevi VDC in 2048. Later, in 2054, he also became the city president of Kirtipur Nagar Congress.
Bista says that due to the political environment in his family and the constant movement of the general public, his interest in politics grew. He had been participating in movements and political activities since his student days. He also became active in political activities during the people's movement of 2046.
Bista was associated with the Nepali Congress in its early stages. He remained active in the Tarun Dal and became the regional president of Kathmandu region number 10 after the people's movement of 2062/63. He also held the responsibility of the campaign coordinator of the Kirtipur region in the 2070 elections.
After leaving the Congress, he embarked on an independent political campaign with a team of youth. Since July 2079, he has formally joined the National Independent Party. He is currently the party's Kathmandu District President.
He was also active in his area in the 2079 local level elections. When the Congress won in 9 out of 10 wards of Kirtipur, he claims to have played a role in getting an independent candidate elected as ward president in his area.
Priority Anti-Corruption Campaign
According to Bista, his main priority is to implement the party's anti-corruption campaign, good governance, and transparency agenda.
Before becoming active in politics full-time, he worked in the tourism sector. He worked in five-star hotels including the Soaltee Hotel.
Bista has two sons.
