The central leaders and activists of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA) protested in Pokhara on Saturday against the arrest of party chairman and former home minister Ravi Lamichhane. The leaders and workers of the RSVP protested against Lamichhane, who was arrested for investigation into cooperative fraud, organized crime and labor-related offences.
During his address to the opposition assembly, the RSVP leader criticized the government saying that Lamichhane had been framed in a conspiracy. The protestors demanded action against Congress Vice President Dhanraj Gurung and UML MP Rishikesh Pokharel as they were also involved in cooperative fraud.
RSVP Deputy Chairman Dolprasad Aryal said that the big party was in need after coming to Parliament with 21 MPs within a short period of the party's formation. He alleged that the government was vindictive to complete the campaign of RSVP by making many excuses. "Those who have red passports and green cards in Goji are prejudiced against the RSVP," he said.
Swarnim Wagle, another vice-chairman of RSVP, said that he will protest against the political game of killing a person and a party by keeping many prejudices. "Because of personal ego, the government wants to detain Lamichhane even if it is for two to four days," he said, "There is a lot of work to be done in the country." But without paying attention to that, the government has completely misused the power of the state and is playing the game of ending one person and one party by keeping many biases.''
RSVP leader Manish Jha said that it would be difficult to find a person in the big party who did not exploit the state's wealth and claimed that there is not a single such person in the RSVP. "If the government wants two-thirds of the blood, I am ready to give," he said. Coordinator Kiran Shrestha said.
