The results of Dhanusha Constituency No. 1 will not be announced until at least Falgun 29. The Supreme Court on Monday called the Election Commission and others for discussion, and the announcement of the results will be postponed until that date.
The Supreme Court has already asked the Election Commission to submit the original file to reject the candidacy of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) candidate Kishori Sah without doing anything further as the Election Commission has already stayed the announcement of the results. The Supreme Court has fixed the next hearing for the 29th. Although the direct counting of votes in the constituency was completed on Sunday night, the results have not been announced yet. The candidacy of RSWP candidate Sah was rejected two days before the election.
Election Officer Manoj Baral said that the counting of the direct votes was completed on Sunday night and the final results have not been announced as per the Election Commission's instructions. The votes cast for the rejected candidacy of RSVP candidate Sah have been counted and kept secret.
In Dhanusha-1, apart from the votes of RSVP candidate Sah, Nepali Communist Party candidate Matrika Prasad Yadav has secured 10,428 votes. Congress candidate Rampaltan Sah has secured 9,485 votes. UML candidate Ramchandra Mandal has secured 9,220 votes.
The NCP has objected to the fact that the office of the election officer has not announced the final results. The Election Commission had written a letter to the office of the election officer on Sunday and directed it not to announce the final results of the direct votes in that constituency. NCP candidate Yadav has claimed that he won by securing the highest number of votes since the commission rejected his candidacy.
‘The controversy in Dhanusha-1 has increased because of the commission,’ said NCP candidate Yadav, ‘The winning candidate should be given certificates after announcing the final results.’
NCP leaders and workers have been staging a sit-in at the office of the Returning Officer in Dhanushadham since Monday morning.
