The Rastriya Prajatantra Party crossed the 3 percent threshold in the House of Representatives elections held on 21 Falgun and won 4 seats in the proportional representation. Of those seats, Bharat Giri, who was on the first list of the Khas-Arya group, succeeded in becoming a federal MP.
Born in Maitidevi, Kathmandu in 2018, Giri's political sphere of activity was Madhesh and Koshi provinces. He started student politics from Mahendra Multiple Campus in Dharan. He became active in party politics by working his way up from an ordinary member to the president of the party's student organization.
Giri was influenced by the late leader Surya Bahadur Thapa. Having worked closely with Thapa during his student life, he says that he entered national politics due to Thapa's inspiration. Thapa, who was active in nearby Dharan, where he focused on politics in Dhankuta, encouraged Giri repeatedly.
In the first Constituent Assembly elections held in 2064, he was defeated despite being a candidate from the RPP. After that, he became active in expanding the party organization again. Although his desire to write a constitution could not be fulfilled, he has now reached the responsibility of making laws for the implementation of the constitution.
Giri, who became the chairman of RPP's Mahottari-4 in 2054, held that responsibility until 2058. After Chaitra 2058, he became the central chairman of the National Democratic Youth Committee and remained in that role until 2063. He was a candidate from Mahottari-4 in the 2064 Constituent Assembly election, but was defeated that time too.
After that, Giri, who continued to expand the organization, was elected as a central member three times from 2064 to 2077. In 2077, he also became the Madhesh Province President. His campaign to expand the RPP's organization in Madhesh is considered to have had a good impact within the party and regionally.
Giri is also active in the educational sector and is the director of Universal College, Phoenix College of Management and Aryan College of Engineering and Management. He even worked for the party while living in Jhapa for some time.
After becoming an MP, Giri has expressed his commitment to raise the voice of the people in Parliament as per the party's manifesto and policy. He has said that he will focus on Madhesh issues and youth employment in particular.
He believes that the state should invest in creating opportunities for youth in the country. He says that policy reforms are necessary to stop the exodus in the name of foreign employment and studies. He says that the parliament should be made effective from lawmaking to vigilance.
Since the RPP has obtained limited seats, he said that he will play a constructive and critical role in the opposition for the next 5 years.
'I will raise my voice in Parliament against past corruption and malpractices,' says Giri, 'We will warn the government if it fails on the issues raised by Gen-G.'
