Prabha Dhakal, 39, from Saphi, Kolhavi Municipality-4, completed her secondary education from her village school. She then studied nursing and postgraduate studies from Bharatpur, Chitwan. Along with her studies, she joined social and human services. During her social service, she joined the Lions Club Saptarangi.
From there, she started human services. Along with her studies, she started taking people stranded on the streets to the ashram. Along with her studies, she started helping the poor, the sick, and those who were left without treatment due to lack of money by coordinating with the hospital to provide free treatment. In the process, she made a name for herself as a social worker by treating and keeping hundreds of such orphans and street people in the ashram.
During this process, she joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). After joining the RSSS, she started taking on the responsibilities of Chitwan District Party Vice President and Bagmati Province Member. During the party's expansion, she reached the villages and hills of all 13 districts of the province. The party evaluated her activism and made her an MP from the Khas Arya cluster. She said, 'I never thought I would become an MP.'
She says that she was drawn into active politics by the craze and influence of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) President Ravi Lamichhane in Chitwan. She also had a good support in Ravi's hat-trick victory in Chitwan in three elections. In the recently held elections, she was a member of the election commander team and was involved in building organizations in Ilam, Gorkha, Dhading, Chitwan and Bara. In Chitwan, she was the commander of the election mobilization committee formed to win Ravi Lamichhane.
Her role was also important in collecting signatures when party president Lamichhane was in jail. She says, 'If my area of work had not been Chitwan and Bharatpur, I probably would not have entered politics. Nor would I have become an MP.' She has been serving for two and a half decades, making Bharatpur her area of work.
Dhakal, who was born on 25 Mangsir 2043, says that she was inspired by her family to engage in social service. She remembers that her parents always told her to serve the poor and the suffering. 'The pain she experienced during social service and the inequality in society motivated her to enter politics. I have experienced firsthand how much trouble the poor and the suffering face in getting services from society and the state. My goal will be to improve this discrimination and cumbersome system,' she said.
Her father Krishna Bahadur Dhakal has a food shop in Kolhavi Bazaar. The income from this shop is the main source of income for her family. Mother Saraswati Dhakal is a housewife. She has been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since its inception. She currently resides in Hakimchowk, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-10, Chitwan.
