CPN-UML has made Chandeshwar Mandal of Siraha a member of the House of Representatives. Mandal became an MP from the Madhesi cluster through the proportional representation system.

Born in 2021 BS in Laxmipur, Arnama Rural Municipality-4, Siraha, he studied up to the bachelor's level in the Faculty of Science. Mandal joined the CPN-UML in 2038 BS and became involved in political activities.

Since then, he has been active in expanding the party organization, public relations and local-level political activities. He first won the election as the chairman of the former VDC Gauripur in 2049 BS. He was also elected in 2054 BS and got the opportunity to work as the VDC chairman for two terms.

As the VDC chairman, he made his identity through local development, infrastructure construction and public service-oriented work. In the meantime, he also has experience of working as a teacher for some time, as the vice president of the Siraha district branch of the Nepal Red Cross Society for five years, and then as the general secretary of the Madhesh Province of the Red Cross Society for five years.

During this period, he further broadened his identity by working in the fields of disaster management, blood transfusion services, and social assistance. He started politics from the village level and became the Siraha district president of UML in 2074 BS. In appreciation of his continuous contribution to the organization, UML gave Mandal the responsibility of the Madhesh Province president in 2080 BS. He still continues in this role.

However, his aspiration to take over the leadership at the local level could not be fulfilled. In the 2074 BS local level elections, Mandal, who had filed his candidacy for the post of president of Arnama Rural Municipality, was defeated by the Maoist Center candidate Thaku Mahato.

Then, despite trying again in the 2079 BS elections, he was defeated by Ashok Yadav of JSP Nepal. Although the two defeats disappointed him for a while, they did not reduce his political activism.

Despite the defeat at the local level, Mandal, who was made an MP based on his contribution within the party and long political experience, expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to represent him in the federal parliament. He said that the problems faced by farmers, students, patients, Dalits, and the marginalized in Madhesh will remain his priority.

'My journey in politics has been long, in the meantime, I have had the opportunity to understand the society in a very detailed way, I have been seeing and experiencing all the problems here,' he said, 'I draw the government's attention to all those problems, and I work to persuade the government to find solutions.'

Mandal, who has been involved in political activities from the village level since his student days, has now reached the federal parliament.
