Karnali is still 'far away' from Kathmandu's perspective. Even further away is the treatment of women and marginalized communities here. She had been raising her voice on these issues.

Radhika Ramtel, who was born and raised in Chatture, Bambiachaur, Surkhet, will now be seen in the House. Radhika, who comes from a family background where she earns her living by doing simple labor, will now represent the entire Karnali and bring the voice of marginalized communities to the Central House.
Karnali is still 'far away' in Kathmandu's eyes. The treatment of women and marginalized communities here is even further away. She had been raising her voice on these issues. After becoming an MP, she has now reached a place where she can answer and resolve those issues herself. She has become an MP from the Dalit cluster on the proportional side from the Shram Sanskriti Party.
Many are expressing their good wishes after Radhika, a woman from Karnali and also from the Dalit community, became an MP. ‘It is difficult for women from Karnali to reach the politics of ‘Singha Durbar,’ says advocate Geeta Koirala. ‘It is a matter of pride for us that one of the women here, who have been left behind due to economic, social, cultural and other reasons, has reached the parliament of the country.’
Now, she says, she should tell the capital of the country about the issues being faced by the marginalized classes, including women from Karnali.
Radhika neither had any great political legacy nor was she in the limelight. She comes from a normal family and has been working in the field of protecting the rights of women and Dalit women at the local level since 2059 BS.
She was associated with various organizations with the idea of doing something for the society. She says that she will not give up that idea even now. She says, ‘The work I do is the same, I have only felt that the responsibility has changed.’ Only the style and method of working have changed.'
Born in 2039 BS in Bambiachaur, Surkhet, Radhika is the youngest of 7 siblings. She not only spent her childhood in poverty but also faced child marriage. Married in Dailekh Narayan Municipality-1, she was only able to study up to SLC. Due to the traditional belief that a girl should not study after marriage, she could not study beyond LLC.
She is currently living in Birendranagar Municipality-4. After thinking of becoming self-reliant through employment, she joined organizations working for the marginalized class. She has experience working in Mahila Shasaktikaran Manch, Dalit Sewa Sangh, etc.
Radhika openly says that she has not joined any party. She said, 'I am not a person from a political background.' She had come saying that one should vote for someone who does good work. Till now, I was just a voter. I never imagined this journey. There was no way I wouldn't be happy if I became an MP.'
43-year-old Radhika had been following Hark Sampang, the chairman of the Shram Sanskriti Party, on social media. She had come to like Hark's principle of working hard. She had taken Hark as someone who treated everyone equally and spoke for the marginalized. She said that she liked his attitude of working hard in a normal lifestyle even after becoming the mayor of Dharan Upmahanagar, without considering the work big or small.
A few months ago, she searched for and joined the Shram Sanskriti Party that Hark had started from Karnali. In the House of Representatives elections, the party leadership decided to send her to the House from the women's Dalit cluster.
The Shram Sanskriti Party, which won 7 seats in the direct election, has got 4 seats in the proportional election. The Shram Sanskriti Party, which brought 330,684 votes from the country to the proportional election, brought 4,657 votes from Karnali.
Khagisara Wali, secretary of the Dalit Women's Association Surkhet, takes the fact that an ordinary woman has reached the parliament from Karnali as a very positive thing. She said, 'It is a great thing for a woman who has been working for the society and understands the problems of the society to reach the parliament. Regardless of the party, women have got an opportunity. She has reached the leadership level. This is a matter of happiness.'
Radhika, who is associated with Shram Sanskriti, said that she also comes from this background and that she joined the party. She said that as soon as the party was formed, she started working by joining the Karnali team.
Her name was number 1 from Karnali in the closed list submitted to the Party Election Commission. Radhika said that she saw little chance of becoming an MP after the party did not get many votes from Karnali. However, she did not give up hope. The party did not spare Karnali. She says that even though she reached the House from the party, she will now speak the voice of Karnali.
She said that she has decided to bring the problems of Karnali, which is lagging behind in basic matters such as health, education, employment, road infrastructure, to the House. She says that she will fulfill the responsibility of bringing the voice to the Parliament, especially for the marginalized classes here.
She says that she feels that she can easily bring the issues of here to the central politics because she understands the environment here. She says that she will raise the issues of here in the House along with the problems of Karnali.
