”I saw the Genji movement up close and realized that I too should be in favor of change,” she said. ”I myself became active and became a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). I also contested the pre-election by registering my name as a proportional representative of the RSSS.”

Amrita BK, who became a proportional representation MP from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP), is a successful female entrepreneur who is mainly involved in the gold and silver business.
For the past 25 years, she has been running Rambhadevi Gold and Silver Shop in Amarpath, Butwal, Rupandehi. She has houses and land in Arunkhola in East Nawalparasi and Butwal in Rupandehi. Although she lives in both places, her gold and silver business is in Amarpath, Butwal.
‘I have been running this shop for 25 years,’ said Amrita after returning from participating in a training organized by Gwarko in Lalitpur for the newly elected members of the House of Representatives from the RSWP. ‘I am also known as a gold and silver woman entrepreneur.’ In the course of business expansion, we have also expanded our business to Dubai outside Nepal. According to Amrita, she has a gold and silver shop named Jessica Jewelers in Dubai outside Nepal. ‘We are connected to our ancestral profession and we seem to be successful in it,’ she said, ‘So this is our main profession. Politics was not.’
She said that her parents and in-laws were active in UML politics. ‘Looking at them, my interest in politics has also increased,’ she said, ‘However, I have never worked in any position in that party.’ She said that she took an interest in politics in her family and was today an MP because of that interest.
She became involved in social organizations after working as a senior district advisor at the Lions Club of International 325 Insurance. ‘I have joined social work through Lions,’ she said, ‘I am also proud to be associated with a circle that has such a spirit of doing something.’ She said that she joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) only a year ago.
‘I saw the Genji movement up close and realized that I too should be in favor of change,’ she said, ‘I became active and joined the RSS. I also contested the pre-election by registering my name as a proportional member of the RSS.’
She said that she had her own interest in joining the RSS. ‘No one inspired me to join this. I joined myself,’ she said, ‘I felt in my heart that I should work for the country and the people, and I joined the RSS.’ She said that she joined the RSS because she felt that change is possible only through politics and that it should be in our time.
She said that she was elected as an MP from the Dalit cluster on the proportional representation side and now she is thinking of raising the voices of the suppressed.
She said that there is an enthusiasm across the country due to the RSVP, which has almost two-thirds of the members in the parliament. She has experienced a mixture of experts in various fields and experienced friends who have been refined by doing politics in other parties. ‘With experience and knowledge, we will do positive and enthusiastic work every day,’ said 40-year-old Amrita, ‘I have great confidence that this party will definitely fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people.’
In 2057 BS, Amrita also taught at a private boarding school in Arunkhola, East Nawalparasi.
