Nitima Bhandari Karki, who was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from the National Independent Party in Sarlahi Constituency No. 1, had recently joined the Rashtriya Swatantra Party.

Karki won by securing 44,181 votes. Her nearest competitor, Shambhulal Shrestha of the Nepali Congress, secured 7,871 votes. Manoj Kumar Devkota of the UML received 6,101 votes.

Karki won as a member of the House of Representatives by a wide margin of 36,310 votes over her rival, according to the Office of the Returning Officer of Constituency 1.

Karki of Kathmandu-9 Sinamangal has won by becoming a candidate from the Maiti Lalbandi Municipality-1 constituency. Karki's husband Chetan Bhandari is also close to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) President Ravi Lamichhane and senior leader Balendra Sah. Karki, who was elected as an MP, has studied up to graduation.
