Yagya Bahadur Bogati is an active name in Achham politics. UML candidate Bogati, who started his political journey from student politics, has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Achham-2. Bogati, who has advanced in politics by building organizations in villages, has set his sights on the federal parliament for the second time. In the final results released on Sunday evening, he won by securing 472 more votes than Congress candidate Pushpa Bahadur Shah.

Bogati of Mangalsen Municipality-3 is a leader who came to politics from a normal family background. Bogati completed his basic level from Shodsha Secondary School in Mangalsen, plus two from Achham Multiple Campus in Mangalsen, and graduation from Kathmandu.

He started showing interest in organizational activities during his student life. After the multi-party system was re-established in the country after 2046 BS, he entered active politics through a student organization. While working in a student organization, he played an active role in leadership, organization expansion, and cadre mobilization.

His activism, which started with student politics, gradually expanded to party organizations. He has been active in the district-level party organization for a long time. He has made an impact in Achham as a leader in organization building, mobilizing cadres, and raising local issues.

He has held various responsibilities within the UML by joining the communist movement. While being active in the party organization, he rose to a leadership role at the district level. In 2074 BS, he was the District Secretary of UML Achham. At that time, he first filed his candidacy in the House of Representatives elections.

In the 2074 BS House of Representatives elections, Bogati became a candidate from Achham-2. He entered the federal parliament for the first time by winning that election. After that, he remained active as a leader raising various development issues of Achham in the parliament. He has been raising his voice on the issues of road, education, health services, and basic infrastructure development.

In the 2079 BS House of Representatives elections, he was defeated. Even after the defeat, he did not stop his political activism. He continued his political journey by strengthening the organization, meeting cadres, and remaining active in local problems of the district.

He contested the current House of Representatives election again and won from Achham-2. With this, he was elected to the federal parliament for the second time. Bogati was also elected as a central member of the party at the recently concluded UML general convention. This is believed to have further strengthened his role and influence within the party.

Achham district in the Sudurpaschim province is considered a backward area in terms of development. Poverty, unemployment, lack of education and health services are seen as the main challenges here. Bogati has put the development of the district at the center of his political agenda. ‘Achham is still known as one of the poorest districts in the country. It is necessary to improve the education, health and employment conditions here,’ says Bogati, ‘I am committed to creating an environment where the youth of Achham can see a future in their own place by creating opportunities at the local level. Improving the living standards of the people is my first priority.’
