Shreedhar Pokharel of the National Independent Party has been elected from Bardiya Constituency No. 2. Tourism entrepreneur Pokharel has set his parliamentary journey in his first attempt at the parliamentary election. He won by securing 29,678 votes.
His nearest competitor, Kishor Singh Rathore of the Nepali Congress, received 20,402 votes. Similarly, Suresh Pantha of the Nepali Communist Party received 19,180 votes and Bimala BK of the UML received 10,772 votes.
Pokharel, 53, of Thakurbaba Municipality-9, Bethani, is a tourism entrepreneur. He has been continuously active in the tourism business and social service for the past 25 years. He is also a senior nature guide who guides tourists in the Bardiya National Park. He has good knowledge about the tourism business and forests. He has his own resort in Thakurdwara, the headquarters of the Bardiya National Park.
Pokharel, who studied law at the certificate level, has been continuously active in social service since the past. Similarly, he has a long experience in forest management. He has experience of working as the chairman of the Betahani Intermediate Community Forest for three terms. He is considered popular among consumers after leading the forest for 15 years. Similarly, he has worked while associated with various non-governmental organizations.

He said that he put aside his profession and entered the election for service to develop according to the wishes of the youth and prevent the country from going into trouble. "It is not that leaders of other parties have not developed in the past, but the public has become angry because they do not see the pace at which it should be done. The youth have become agitators due to the lack of good governance in the country," he said. "Since I am from this place, I understand the problems here well. Due to policy problems, some work is incomplete. We will have to work for policy reforms to complete those incomplete work."
He said that he would prioritize the promises he had made by expressing his opinion that he would show by doing rather than talking now.
