The Nepali Communist Party has survived in Karnali, the base area of the armed conflict. It has preserved its legacy in Dolpa, Rukum West, Salyan and Kalikot, which it had previously won, but has lost its strongholds in Jajarkot, Dailekh-1 and Humla.

In the 2079 House of Representatives election, the former Maoists won 4 constituencies and the former Unified Socialists won 3. This time, 3 people from the former Maoist background and one from the former Unified Socialists have won. There are 12 constituencies in Karnali.

Dhan Bahadur Budha has won for the fourth time in Dolpa with 6,802 votes. He is from the former Unified Socialist background and has been a member of the House of Representatives three times and a minister twice. He won in the last House of Representatives election with 11,292 votes and became an MP in 2074 BS with 11,761 votes. He won the parliamentary election for the first time in the Constituent Assembly member election-2070 and became the Minister of State for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and Minister of Urban Development.

Similarly, in Rukum West, Gopal Sharma won with 21,609 votes and preserved the legacy of the base area. But before that, Janardan Sharma, who had been winning elections continuously from the same constituency since 2064 BS, has slipped to third place with 14,346 votes. He had left the NCP expressing disagreement with the party unification process and formed the Progressive Democratic Party.

Having won elections four times as a former Maoist, he also became the Minister of Peace and Reconstruction, Energy, Home and Finance. But after leaving the party, he was defeated by his own former colleague. When Janardan was the Home Minister, Gopal was his personal secretary. This is Gopal's second parliamentary trip. He was elected as a member of the Karnali Provincial Assembly in 2074 BS and also became the Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning.

The NCP's branch has also been saved in Salyan. Ramesh Kumar Malla of the NCP has won with 23,189 votes. In the second Constituent Assembly election-2070 from Salyan, Tek Bahadur Basnet of the former Maoist and Prakash Jwala of the NCP from Constituency No. 1 had won from Constituency No. 2 from UML. Similarly, they had also won in the first Constituent Assembly election-2064 BS.

NCP leader Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has won for the fourth time in Kalikot. He was the first Chief Minister of Karnali Province and was the Minister of Energy in the federal government. He won the 2079 BS election with 23,727 votes, and the 2074 BS Provincial Assembly election in Kalikot 1 (K) with 12,153 votes. He started his parliamentary journey by winning the second Constituent Assembly election in 2070 BS. This time, he defeated his former colleague Khadak Bahadur Bishwakarma.

In the 2064 BS election, the former Maoists were the leading force in 10 districts of the former Mid-West. In that election, 19 MPs, 11 direct and 8 proportional, were elected from the former Maoists. In the second Constituent Assembly election in 2070 BS, the number of former Maoist MPs, four direct and 3 proportional, fell to 7.

In the 2074 BS election, the Maoists were able to win only 5 House of Representatives constituencies while collaborating with the UML, and in 2079 BS, they were limited to four, losing one seat. In 2079 BS, 3 members of the United Socialist Party were elected to the House of Representatives. Political analyst Laxman KC said that the Maoists appear to be weakening in this election.
