 Asha Jha of Biratnagar, who has been active in the social sector for a long time, has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Morang Constituency No. 5 .

Jha, a candidate of the National Swatantra Party (NSWP), secured 30,443 votes . Phul Kumar Lalwani of the Nepali Congress came in second place with 9,415 votes .  Rajkumar Yadav of the JSP  came third . He got 8,747 votes .

Shiva Kumar Mandal of the NCP came fourth with 8,616 votes and  Manoj Kumar Agrawal of the UML came fifth with 6,945 votes . 

Bhogendra Mandal of the National Urjashil Party, who won as an independent candidate in 2079, came sixth . He got 4,199 votes . 

Jha, who has been active in various social and public health campaigns for about 16 years, has established herself as a female leader who works directly with the community.

She was active in women empowerment, health awareness, youth employment and social awareness campaigns. This experience and credibility gave her a different identity among the voters and paved the way for her to climb the ladder to parliament.

She was associated with ‘Gayatri Parivar’ and has been running programs related to moral and cultural education.

She has organized various social and spiritual awareness programs and played an important role in volunteer management and community coordination. Her active participation has been seen in campaigns such as social reform, environmental protection and community awareness.

Jha has been raising issues related to the rights, legal awareness and citizenship of Madhesi women through ‘Madhesi Mahila Nagarik Samaj’. She has a bachelor’s degree in education.
