There is a lot of buzz around the world after 26-year-old Manish Khanal won the House of Representatives election in Constituency No. 2 of East Nawalparasi. Khanal is a lawyer and a resident of Madhyabindu Municipality-6.

He had studied from his village to SLC and had gone to Kathmandu for higher education. In the course of studying law in Kathmandu, he joined Bibeksheel Sajha, considering it necessary to have an alternative force to the old political parties.

Manish became a central member at the age of 20 at the general convention of the then Bibeksheel Sajha Party held in Janakpur in 2076 BS. After that, he was also active in the agitations, campaigns, government alert meetings and Gen-G agitations in Kathmandu. After the announcement of the elections, he became more popular after getting a ticket from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Khanal defeated his rival Til Bahadur Mahat of UML by a margin of 25,592 votes in this constituency known as the Red Fort. Mahat was a candidate for the third consecutive time in this constituency. Similarly, Om Bahadur Gharti of the Nepali Congress got 14,713 votes and Ganeshman Mahato of the Nepali Communist Party got 1,538 votes.
