Chandan Singh, a candidate of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) from Constituency No. 2 of Bara, has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives. Singh, who had earlier held the position of chairman of Devtal Rural Municipality, is embarking on his parliamentary journey for the first time.

Singh won by a margin of 21,394 votes. He received a total of 35,590 votes. His nearest rival, Ramkishore Yadav of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, received 14,196 votes.

Ramkishore Yadav was a candidate for the federal parliament for the fourth time. He had previously been defeated three times.

Singh was elected as the chairman of Devtal Rural Municipality from the then Mahant Thakur-led Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LOSP) in 2074 BS. Having studied up to class 12, he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) after the merger of JSP Nepal and LOSP and entered the parliamentary journey as a candidate from the same party.

Singh, 43, a resident of Pipradhi, Devtal Rural Municipality-4, has a wife and two sons. He was ahead from the beginning of the election and finally won.

His father, Bishwanath Singh, was the chairman of the then District Development Committee (DDC) during the Panchayat period.
