Swarnim Wagle of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been elected in Tanahun-1. Wagle won by securing 38,040 votes. Govinda Bhattarai of the Nepali Congress (NC) has secured 16,231 votes.

The by-election was held after Ramchandra Poudel, the MP elected from there, became the President. In the by-election, he defeated Bhattarai of the Nepali Congress by more than 15,000 votes.
