RSP's 'clean sweep' in Kathmandu Valley

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is likely to make a near-clean sweep in the Kathmandu Valley. According to the results of the elections till 2 am on Saturday, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has won 6 out of the 15 seats in the valley. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is also leading by a wide margin in the remaining 9 seats.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has won Kathmandu-1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)'s Ranju Neupane has won Kathmandu-1. She has secured 15,455 votes. Her nearest competitor, Prabal Thapa of the Congress, secured 6,364 votes. In the 2079 elections, Prakash Man Singh of the Congress had won from this constituency.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's Rajunath Pandey has won Kathmandu-3. He has secured 18,757 votes. His nearest competitor, Kulman Ghising of Ujjaya Nepal, has secured 11,171 votes. In the last election, Santosh Chalise of the Congress had won this constituency.

Sasmit Pokharel of the Rastriya Swatantra Party has been elected in Kathmandu-5. According to the final results released at 1:30 am on Saturday, Pokharel won with a huge margin. He received 30,737 votes. His nearest competitor Pradeep Poudel of the Nepali Congress got 9,159 votes and Ishwor Pokharel of the UML got 4,701 votes, according to the Returning Officer's Office.   

Shishir Khanal of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party has won in Kathmandu-6. He received 27,916 votes. He defeated his nearest competitor Krishna Baniya Chhetri of the Nepali Congress by a huge margin of 21,249 votes. Chhetri received 6,667 votes. Khanal had won in the last election as well. 

Ganesh Parajuli of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party has won in Kathmandu-7. According to the Election Commission, he received 27,805 votes. Parajuli won in the constituency for the second time. He was elected in the 2079 election as well. His nearest competitor Pramodahari Guragain of the Nepali Congress got 3,982 votes. 

Similarly, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) won in Kathmandu-8 by getting 24,592 votes. His nearest competitor Suman Sayami of the Nepali Congress got 3,217 votes. Shrestha had won from the same constituency in the last election as well. In Kathmandu-10, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate Pradeep Bista was also elected. According to the Election Commission, as per the final results of the polls held on Friday night, he got 37,469 votes. His competitor Himal Karki of the Nepali Congress got 8,100 votes. 

Similarly, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate has also made a wide lead in the remaining constituencies of the Kathmandu Valley where the counting of votes is underway. Sunil KC of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is ahead in Kathmandu-2. He got 24,269 votes as per the counting of votes till 2 am. Even though Kabir Sharma of the Nepali Congress is trailing him, there is a big difference. Kabir got 6,989 votes. 

In Kathmandu-4, Pukar Bam of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has also trailed Sachin Timalsena of the Congress by more than 16,000 votes. He got 23,488 votes. Timalsena got 6,959 votes. Congress President Gagan Thapa won this constituency in the last election. 

In Kathmandu-9, RSS Vice President Dol Prasad Aryal is leading. He is on the verge of victory, far behind Congress's Nanimaiya Bastola. As of Friday night, Aryal has secured 27,413 votes, while Bastola has secured 4,439 votes. UML's Krishna Gopal Shrestha won here in the last election.

In Lalitpur-1, RSS's Buddha Ratna Maharjan is ahead. Congress's Udaya Shamsher Jabra is trailing. Maharjan got 11,202 votes and Rana got 8,302 votes. Rana had won from this constituency in the last election. Jagadish Kharel of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is leading in Lalitpur-2. He is being followed by Prem Krishna Maharjan of the Nepali Congress (NCS). Kharel got 7,305 votes and Maharjan got 1,040 votes. 

RSS candidate Tosima Karki has trailed Jit Kumar Shrestha of the Nepali Congress (NCS) by more than 15,000 votes in Lalitpur-3. Karki got 18,818 votes and Shrestha got 3,654 votes. Karki had won from this constituency in the last election as well.

The RSS is leading in Bhaktapur-1, which was previously won by the Nepali Congress (NCS). According to the counting of votes till 2 am, Rukesh Ranjit of the RSS has got 20,255 votes while Prem Suwal of the Nepali Congress (NCS) has got 15,520 votes. Prem Suwal had won this constituency earlier. 

In Bhaktapur-2, Rajiv Khatri of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has taken the lead. UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet is far behind. Khatri got 21,474 votes and Basnet got 5,663 votes. Durlabh Thapa of the Nepali Congress had won here in the last election.

In the 2074 election, out of the 15 constituencies in the Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu-10, Lalitpur-3 and Bhaktapur-2), UML won 9 seats (6 in Kathmandu, 2 in Lalitpur, 1 in Bhaktapur), Congress won 4 seats (Kathmandu constituencies 1, 4, 6 and 10), Maoists won 1 in Lalitpur and NEMKIPA won Bhaktapur-1. In the 2079 election, Congress won 5 seats, RSP won 4 and UML won 1 seat from Kathmandu. Out of the three seats in Lalitpur, RSP won one, while Congress and UML won 1 seat each. In Bhaktapur, Congress won one seat and NEMKIPA won one seat.
