Prakash Pathak, a young leader of the Rashtriya Prakash Party, has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Jhapa-3. Amidst a multi-faceted competition, he has entered the federal parliament, beating established and experienced leaders.

37-year-old Pathak is a resident of Ghagra, Jhapa's Barhadashi Rural Municipality. Active in journalism for a long time, he has started a new chapter in his political journey by winning the election from Jhapa-3. In 2079, he had come third from the same constituency. He had received 3,461 votes. This time, he won by getting more than 10 times the votes.

This time, he has taken revenge on Rajendra Lingden of the RPP, who lost last time. Lingden received 17,294 votes. Rajendra Ghimire of the Congress came third with 8,199 votes. Hari Rajbanshi of the UML came fourth with 7,492 votes. In the past, UML-RPP coordination had been going on in this constituency. However, this time, there was no coordination, which made it easy for Pathak to win.

Pathak, who came to public life from journalism, has said that he will consider parliament as a 'place to convey the voice of citizens'. During the election campaign, he expressed his commitment to play an active role in policymaking and raise the people's issues in parliament and sought votes.

Pathak, who studied till graduation, has about 13 years of experience working in various media.  He says that while working in journalism, he got the opportunity to understand how the country is being run closely. That experience inspired him to participate directly in policymaking.

He believes that the role of the federal parliament should focus on policymaking and large national plans. Stating that local development work should be carried out through local and provincial governments, he emphasizes that the federal government should focus on long-term policies and large infrastructure.

Pathak has prioritized the education, health and agriculture sectors. He has now decided to take his public life, which began with journalism, forward through the federal parliament. Pathak has taken steps in his parliamentary journey with the goal of transforming the people's voice into policymaking by reaching parliament.
