Poudel, who became a candidate from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with an agenda of change in local politics after leaving the teaching profession, has been elected from Rautahat-4. Poudel has stopped Dev Prasad Timalsina of the Congress, who has won twice in a row in this area, from achieving a hat-trick. Poudel had maintained a consistent lead since the beginning of the election counting. His victory is seen as a wave of change against the traditional political forces of the Congress, UML, Maoists, and Madhesh parties in Madhesh.
Poudel won with 36,876 votes. His nearest competitor Dev Prasad Timalsina of the Congress got 15,865 votes. Ram Kumar Bhattarai of the NCP, who has been aggressive since the election campaign, had to settle for 9,778 votes. Bhattarai is a member of the Constituent Assembly in 2070. The era of Rishi Dhamala, who came to politics from the field of journalism, has been seized. He got 655 votes. Timalsina had won in 2074 and 2079. Poudel has made a significant presence in Madhesh Province from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) by defeating his closest competitors. He has worked as an associate professor at the Janajyoti Multiple Campus in Chandrapur for a long time. Before entering full-time politics, Poudel was active in the educational and social sectors. He has been raising his voice for improving the quality of education at the local level and providing skill-based training to the youth. Poudel, who started his political journey by becoming a member of the Nepali Congress in 2067, is the founding chairman of the Sankalp Savings and Loan Cooperative. He is a central member of the Human Rights and Peace Society, an associate professor at Janajyoti Multiple Campus, president of Sindhureghari Multiple Campus, and president of the Independent Intellectual Society Chandranigahpur.
Poudel, who has built a good image in the Congress, joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 2082. He managed to attract the attention of local youth by running for the new party in an area like Rautahat, which is considered a traditional political stronghold.
He has mainly made corruption prevention, good governance, and the prevailing situation in the education and health sectors in the region his main political issues. ‘I am a person with new thinking and clear ideas.’ I am fully committed to development,’ he said, ‘I will leave no stone unturned for the development of this area along with victory.’
He has completed his master’s degree in rural development and business. His college friend Anil Koirala said that Poudel's victory is a source of hope and confidence.
Describing victory and defeat in elections as a natural process, Poudel's closest rival Dev Prasad Timalsina of the Nepali Congress said that he would accept it because the people wanted change. 'Ganeshji is a person with a good and honest image. I have seen his victory as the power of the people,' he said. 'Whoever wins should work for the benefit of the people. I request him to always stand on the side of the people.'
