Devraj Pathak, who spent his energetic time in teaching, joined a new political force towards the latter half of his life. And that political participation has set him on a journey to parliament at the age of 60.

He has set his parliamentary journey by winning from the National Independent Party in Dang-1. He was elected as an MP by defeating Congress Joint General Secretary Yogendra Chaudhary, former Urban Development Minister Metmani Chaudhary and former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Kul Prasad KC.

He is an old educational figure from the Deukhuri area, another valley in Dang. Born in 2022 Chaitra in Gadhwa Rural Municipality-6, Pathak has enjoyed four decades of teaching. He is known as 'Pathak Sir', who is associated with politics along with teaching.

In 2040 BS, he passed the entrance exam from Secondary School, Vangaun Deukhuri. Pathak, who graduated in commerce, did his master's degree in sociology in 2056 and his master's degree in social values in 2058.
He was also a leader of teachers during his teaching career. He has served as the district vice-president of the Nepal Teachers' Association. While in the teachers' association, he worked closely with the Congress for a long time.

In 2079, he left the then teachers' association and the teaching profession and joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He is currently the central member of the RSSS and the Lumbini Province President.

He was defeated in the 2079 election as a candidate from the RSSS in Constituency No. 1. At that time, Metmani Chaudhary was defeated as a candidate from the alliance including the Congress and the Maoist Center by getting 26,576 votes. In 2074, Chaudhary was also elected from the same constituency from the then UML by getting 37,908 votes.

Pathak has got the opportunity to defeat Chaudhary, who was elected as an MP twice and became a minister and lost himself in 2079 BS. Similarly, he has also defeated former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Kul Prasad KC. Nepali Communist Party leader KC had filed an independent candidacy after not getting a ticket from the party.

KC was elected as a provincial MP from Rolpa 1 (1) in 2074 BS from the Maoist Center with 18,512 votes and became the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province. KC became the second Chief Minister after UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, who was the founding Chief Minister, fell into a minority. Pokhrel was the Chief Minister from Falgun 3, 2074 BS to Shrawan 27, 2078 BS, while KC was the Chief Minister from Shrawan 28, 2078 BS to Poush 27, 2079 BS.

Similarly, he has also defeated Congress Joint General Secretary and former Constituent Assembly member Yogendra Chaudhary as his main competitor. Chaudhary Bijay Kumar Gachhadar-led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Loktantrik became a member of the Constituent Assembly in 2070 through proportional representation.

Similarly, Rewatiraman Sharma Ghimire, a member of the Central Accounts Commission, was his competitor from UML. Ghimire was elected Chailahi VDC Chairman in 2054 BS and a member of the Provincial Assembly in 2074 BS.

Thus, although it was difficult to compete with experienced leaders and former ministers and MPs in the elections, he has secured a huge vote of the people and has set his journey to parliament. In his second attempt in the elections, Pathak has got the opportunity to enter parliament. This time, he is using his teaching experience in parliamentary practice.

He said that the people's vote has made him excited and responsible. 'The people have given us a lot of trust and given us a huge vote.' "The responsibility to work by respecting this vote has been added," he said. "This is a burden of opportunity and responsibility for us."

Stating that he entered politics with the plan to play a role in policy-making through politics, he said that he would further enhance the reputation of 'Sir' that he had established during his education. He said that he would play an important role in correcting the anomalies seen in politics.
