Sitaram Sah of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was elected to the House of Representatives in Saptari-4 on Saturday. He secured 36,412 votes. Sah's rival Tejulal Chaudhary of the Nepali Congress, who has won three consecutive terms since 2070, managed to secure only 13,103 votes.
Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal's Bambi Singh got 10,280 votes. Nepali Communist Party's Ruby Kumari Karna got 1,709 votes, while CPN-UML's Ganga Prasad Chaudhary got 1,177 votes and Janmat Party's Jitendra Kumar Sah got 995 votes.
Elected Sah, who entered government service in 2041, resigned from his position as a land conservation officer and contested for the provincial assembly seat from Saptari-4(1) from the Nepali Congress in 2074. He entered student politics from the Nepali Congress and served as a senior advisor to the Civil Servants Union and also as the regional president of the Nepali Congress. He got 11,395 votes as a provincial assembly member.
In 2079, he contested for the mayor of Khadak Municipality from the Nepali Congress. Sah came in third place with 3,436 votes when he contested for the mayor's seat. He last left the Congress and joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Sah of Khadak Municipality-7 has two sons and a wife.
Out of a total of 1 lakh 9 thousand 5 hundred 66 voters, 71 thousand 9 hundred 86 people, including 39 thousand 74 women and 32 thousand 9 hundred 12 men, cast their votes.
