Bharat Bahadur Khadka, born in the former Khirsain VDC in 2014, is a permanent resident of Purvichauki Rural Municipality-1, Phulot, Doti. He started his political journey as the unit vice-president of the Nepali Congress Students' Organization (NSU) in 2032 and studied at the Doti Multiple Campus in Siliguri, Doti until his graduation.
Khadka, who campaigned in favor of multi-party politics in the 2036 referendum as part of former Minister Shivraj Pant's team, was also the deputy president of the NSU's Doti Campus Unit Committee. He completed his formal education at the graduation level in 2039.
Khadka's journey to become a public representative began in 2039. He became the Pradhan Panch of the former Khirsain Village Panchayat at the age of 23 in the 2039 Village Panchayat elections. Khadka, who became the president of the Doti District Panchayat in 2044, became active in the Congress after the multi-party politics. In the 2049 local body elections, he was elected as the Deputy Chairman of the District Development Committee.
In 2054 BS, Khadka again won the post of Chairman of the District Development Committee. Khadka remained in power even in the republican system after the 2062/063 BS people's movement.
In the 2064 BS Constituent Assembly member election, Khadka's name was on the proportional list. At that time, Khadka's first parliamentary journey was 'broken' after the Congress did not get favorable votes. In the second Constituent Assembly election in 2070 BS, Khadka was elected as a member of the Constituent Assembly on the proportional system.
In the elections held on 21 Mangsir 2074 BS, he was directly elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly from Doti-1 (A). Khadka won by 614 votes, defeating the then Left Alliance candidate Chakra Bahadur Malla. He got 17,406 votes, while Malla had to settle for 16,792.
Khadka was a contender for the House of Representatives in the 2079 House of Representatives election. However, due to the electoral alliance, Doti fell to the then CPN-UML. The Congress could not even save the seat in Provincial Assembly Constituency-1, which fell to the Congress during the electoral alliance.
The recent leadership change in the Congress made it easy for Khadka to become a candidate for the House of Representatives. He has also been elected as a central member of the Congress from the special general convention. Khadka, who came out in favor of the special general convention, was sent to Doti by the newly elected President Gagan Kumar Thapa.
In the 2079 House of Representatives election, Prem Bahadur Ale from the then CPN-UML won from Doti with 27,210 votes. His nearest rival Gauri Kumari Oli (UML) got 23,04 votes. Independent candidate Narendra Bahadur Khadka got 6,689 votes.
In the upcoming elections, he was in the election competition with UML's Deepak Dhami, Nepal Communist Party (NCP)'s Trilochan Bhatta and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP)'s Narendra Bahadur Khadka. Bharat Bahadur Khadka of Nepali Congress has won by beating all his rivals.
He has secured 14,897 votes. His nearest rival, UML's Deepak Bahadur Dhami, has secured 14,110 votes. Khadka has won by 787 votes. Similarly, Rashtriya Swatantra Party's Narendra Bahadur Khadka has secured 13,270 votes, while NCP's Trilochan Bhatta has secured 5,413 votes and came in fourth place.
