When we take a close look at the political life of Hark Sampang, former mayor of Dharan and chairman of the Shram Sanskriti Party, one name inevitably comes to mind - Green Tea House.

This is not just an ordinary tea shop, but a place deeply connected to Sampang's thoughts, dialogues, and political journey. Here he learned politics and listened to the people.

Hark Sampang's morning starts at Trust Organic Green Tea located at Buddha Chowk, Dharan-18. This routine, which has been going on continuously for the past eight-nine years, has not changed even after he became the party president. He reaches the Green Tea House before the rush of Dharan begins. The day begins with a cup of green tea, and with it begins a series of conversations - on the country, society, labor, politics, and public life. There is no formality, but the things are serious.

When Hark Sampang entered the election fray as an independent candidate in the 2079 BS local elections, many did not take him seriously. There were only five or six people around him. The journey of walking the streets of Dharan with a microphone in his hand and narrating his agenda also began from the Green Tea House. At that time, this tea shop was not a formal election office. There was no flag, no stage, no slogans; there was only Sampang's voice and firm belief.

Time has changed the course of events. Today, Green Tea House is not just a tea shop, it has become the 'Hark Sampang's base'. Crowds of people come to meet him here, workers gather, activists and well-wishers gather for discussions. Be it planning an event or listening to Sampang - all activities take place from here.

According to Tulsa Limbu, the owner of Green Tea House, Hark Sampang used to come here for the past 10 years. 'He would come here in the morning and chat with the people who came here. He would chat about the country and society, and share his views on social media,' she recalls. According to her, Sampang's success is not accidental. 'The proverb that drops make an ocean matches his life exactly,' says Limbu. His vision of building Nepal, which started with one or two people, is now heard by the general public.

The power of that dialogue made Sampang the mayor of Dharan. Even after winning the election, he did not change his habits. Even after becoming mayor, he continued to visit Green Tea House regularly. Some questioned – why would he stay in a tea shop as mayor? But for Sampang, that tea shop was the easiest way to hear the people's voices.

After becoming mayor, he started a labor campaign. People would gather just by writing a status on his social media that they would gather at Green Tea and go to donate labor at this time today. Even if he did not formally tell anyone, hundreds of people would gather at Green Tea on his Facebook status. Donors who came to meet or help him would also wait for him here. If someone asked, ‘Where is Hark Sampang's office?’ Most people would answer the same thing – ‘Green Tea or a river.’ The labor campaign he launched as mayor kept the citizens connected, and this tea shop became its center.

Today, Sampang workers are seen at the Green Tea House throughout the day. The hustle and bustle starts from the morning. Transparency of financial details sent by donors, discussions, gatherings, meetings—this is where everyone gathers. From landowners to independent mayors to party presidents and strategies for the upcoming House of Representatives elections, discussions have taken place from this place. Now he has made the Green Tea House his unofficial office. The party secretariat, ticket distribution to new candidates, internal discussions—everything is concentrated here.

Over time, the Green Tea House has become part of Hark Sampang's identity. Those who want to meet him set up a time to 'meet at Green Tea'. When he needs to talk to journalists, give instructions to workers, or have a serious discussion on any issue—this is his place of choice.

In Hark Sampang's political journey, the Green Tea House is not just a physical place. It has become a symbol of simplicity, transparency, and accountability to the people, says local Poonam Rai. Currently, Sampang is becoming active in national politics as the president of the Labor Culture Party. The Green Tea House also plays a role in party formation, organization expansion, and debates on alternative politics. Sitting here, he debates with the youth about labor, self-reliance, culture, and politics. Today, the Green Tea House is not just a tea shop, but has become a center for dialogue, ideas, and alternative thinking in the politics of Hark Sampang.
