Of the 165 candidates fielded by the Congress directly, 106 are new candidates. Of these, 11 are women candidates.
Gagan Thapa, who came to the leadership of the party through a special general convention, has prioritized new candidates this time.
Despite prioritizing new candidates, the Congress does not seem to have shown generosity towards women candidates. Because the Congress has not fielded any women candidates in Gandaki and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Out of the 10 constituencies in Kathmandu district, women have got tickets in only two constituencies.
