Karki, who is the party's general convention representative, has been given a direct ticket by the Nepali Congress for the upcoming Falgun 21 elections. Karki, who won the general convention House of Representatives with popular votes in the party's internal elections, has succeeded in becoming the Congress candidate by surpassing his competitors within the party.

Party leaders Angelu Sherpa, Binod Basnet and Karki were the main contenders for the ticket. Party President Gagan Thapa came at the last minute and gave Karki a ticket.
