Nawaraj Bhandari, the founding district president of the National Independent Party (NIP), Parbat, has announced that he will be an independent candidate in the upcoming elections.
He made this announcement on social media, accusing the party of being unilateral in the selection of candidates and not coordinating at the district level.
Issuing a statement on Monday, Bhandari expressed dissatisfaction over the party's center distributing tickets without any discussion with the leaders and workers of the district. He recalled that in the past, he had reached remote villages in Parbat with the party's flag and 'bell' election symbol and expanded the organization and played a role in bringing respectable votes in the previous elections.
'A lot of effort was put into giving birth, raising and strengthening the party,' Bhandari mentioned in the statement, 'but I got information through social media that tickets were sent from the center without any discussion while selecting candidates for the House of Representatives election in Parbat district.'
He complained that he understood that young people from poor families and clean image in Parbat could become MPs, but the party ignored him.
Stating that the party's latest decision has hurt the sentiments of its workers and well-wishers, he said that he has decided to contest the election as an 'independent candidate' on everyone's advice.
