”The special general convention was not called because the central committee said not to call it. The right to call it or not is up to the central committee,” says Nidhi.

Former Nepali Congress Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi has claimed that not even 40 percent of the delegates will be present at the special general convention.

Although the party demanding a special convention claimed to have collected the signatures of 54 percent of the convention delegates, leader Nidhi said that the petition demanding a special convention did not meet the requirements.

'They have said 54 percent. What is the basis for saying that it is 54 percent? Where has it been verified? I do not believe that 54 percent signed. According to my information, those signatures are not even 40 percent. That is why they should have been verified. There is no time for that now. That is why the election will be held after the election,' Nidhi said in an interview with Kantipur, 'It does not make sense to say that a majority was achieved by gathering a crowd of people outside the convention delegates. Gathering people is one thing. However, not even 40 percent of the convention delegates gather there.'

He said that the party's central committee has concluded that there is no need for a special convention now and decided on a regular convention. 'The special convention was not called because the central committee said not to call it. The right to call or not to call belongs to the Central Committee,' he says.
