Although the results of various constituencies in the country have started coming in, the counting of votes has not yet begun in Sankhuwasabha, Mugu and Gorkha-1. Due to geographical remoteness, the counting of votes has not started as the ballot boxes of these areas have not reached the counting center on time. According to the election officer, the ballot boxes of Sankhuwasabha and Gorkha have now been brought to the counting center by helicopter.
The ballot boxes of Dolfu and Mugugaun, two polling stations in Mugu, are being carried by hand, said Mugu Chief Election Officer Min Bahadur Kunwar. ‘The ballot boxes of the polling centers are being carried by hand due to lack of coordination by the helicopter,’ Kunwar said, ‘If the ballot boxes arrive by 1 pm, we will start the counting from 2 pm.’
Meanwhile, preparations are being made to start the counting of votes soon by holding an all-party meeting in Gorkha and Sankhuwasabha, election officers have said. Due to the weather, ballot boxes from all centers could not arrive yesterday. Election officers from Gorkha and Sankhuwasabha have told Kantipur that all ballot boxes have arrived at the counting center today and they have entered the process of starting the vote counting.
