Government Spokesperson and Minister of Communication and Information Technology Prithvisubba Gurung has said that the issue of the trade agreement made by neighboring India and China to use Nepali land Lipulek should be resolved at the diplomatic level.
Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Chautari Nepal Kaski on Friday, Gurung, who is also the Deputy General Secretary of UML, said that since Nepal has written a note, now this matter has reached the diplomatic stage. He said that the problem should be resolved through dialogue between the two countries. He said, "It has reached the diplomatic stage. This problem will be solved through negotiation. We have not imagined that we will get it by fighting.
He said that the land agreed to be used by the two countries for trade belongs to Nepal. He said that when he looked at the encroachment in the past, it looked as if the land belonged to India. He said, 'It is ours. In the middle of that encroachment, we could not claim it, but because we were watching, it became like him. He said that this problem can be solved by coordinating with the United Nations or through bilateral talks with India.
He said that the land should be discussed in various discussion forums between the two countries. "We should continue saying things diplomatically, saying things in multinational forums, making opinions, that this is ours," he said, "one day it will be ours, how long will it take."
