At the Prime Minister's residence, Congress and UML have agreed to remove Deputy Speaker Rana and collected signatures from MPs.
Although the Congress-UML is preparing to remove the Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, the alliance is in confusion due to the conflict within the Congress. In the Congress, the Shekhar Koirala faction and even in Naupa, the MPs except the president Ranjita Shrestha Choudhary were dissatisfied, and the alliance was confused.
Naupa President Shrestha has said that no decision has been taken on submitting a proposal against Deputy Speaker Rana. She said that a decision will be taken about this in the parliamentary party. Deputy Speaker Rana is currently visiting America. He is scheduled to return only on August 13.
According to the rules of the House of Representatives, he should be given an opportunity to explain before being removed. According to the provisions of section 212 (2) of the regulation, it is provided that the accused person will answer the charges against him. Due to this arrangement, the Congress-UML leaders are discussing whether to start the process of removing Rana now or after his return.
On Monday evening, an agreement was reached between Congress and UML leaders at the Prime Minister's residence, Baluwatar, to remove the Deputy Speaker for not behaving according to his position. For that, Congress and UML MPs have been called and signatures have been collected.
