The news agency BBC claims that 60,000 Palestinians died and 1.5 million were injured in the 22-month long war. Attacks from both sides have intensified since Israel's declaration of occupation of Gaza.
What you should know
Ali Walked, the famous Israeli media "I-Twenty Four News", is a journalist who is of Palestinian origin and has lost more than 40 people, including family and relatives, due to the conflict.
He says the Israeli government's move to occupy Gaza two years later, in response to Hamas attacks on 7 October 2023, including kibbutzim in southern Israel, on nearby urban areas, is a war many people do not want.
says, "Actually, this war is not necessary, many young generations don't like this decision, but there are some people in our government who want the war to continue."
Hamas launched a 7-hour missile and ground attack on the kibbutz and surrounding areas, in which 10 Nepali students died, while the condition of Bipin Joshi, who was taken hostage by Hamas, is still unknown. Along with Bipin, 251 people from Israel and other countries were taken hostage by Hamas. In that 'genocide' of attacks, arson and kidnappings, 1200 people in Israel were killed.
Since then, 60,000 Palestinians have been killed and 1.5 million injured in the 22-month-long war, the BBC claims. Attacks from both sides have intensified since Israel's declaration of occupation of Gaza. While some Israelis support the war, others are protesting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's move to take full control of Gaza. I-Twenty-four News, headed by journalist Ali, is headquartered in Jaffa Port, Tel Aviv. This channel has been broadcasting news from Israel in four languages namely Hebrew, French, Arabic and English. "I am an Arab Israeli, from a Palestinian family," Ali said in Tel Aviv to a team of Nepalese journalists visiting Israel. The situation is complicated but it has given me an opportunity to understand and understand what a democratic Israel should be.' They want to tell the reality of the people. "Some of my relatives in Gaza have been killed in the conflict, some of my relatives and friends are in the army, so the two kinds of relationships and experiences have made me believe that two-state solution is the solution," says Ali. I believe, safe and democratic Israel is only possible when its Palestinian neighbors are safe and the country is democratic.
This Israeli editor Ali's parents were both born before 1948. Babu's family fled to Syria during the 1948 war. "Unfortunately, we lost 18 family members in the nuclear attack there in 2013," he said. The situation is such that I have some relatives and friends in the Israeli army and there are also some relatives in Gaza.
He made it clear that he was not in favor of a 'one-nation solution'. "Such a state will not be democratic, but rather an apartheid state. I am adamant that Israel should be a full democracy for all citizens," he said. See
, parents fled in 1948 but this is my country. After all, I was born here, I'm Israeli, so I have to live here. My right to live here, the right of every Palestinian to live in their country is as valid as anyone else's, says Ali, "I am a supporter of the two-state solution. Because I believe that the only way to make Israel safe and democratic is to give the Palestinians their own free, democratic and safe country.
8-month strategy for control in Gaza
Israel has launched a new plan to take military control of Gaza City, which is expected to take about six months to fully implement. According to Israel's official media organization 'Kan TV News', the plan was approved by the country's Security Council.
Actually this war is not wanted, many young people don't like it, but there are some people in our government who want the war to continue. - According to Ali Walked Israel's "I-Twenty-four News" chief
Kan TV, within the next two weeks, about eight million citizens of Gaza City are being prepared to be safely transferred to the al-Mawasi humanitarian area in southern Gaza. Israel will deploy an additional reserve division later next month, which is expected to launch ground operations (offensives) within two months in cooperation with the five divisions currently operational.
Taking into account the humanitarian situation, it has been decided to increase the number of trucks carrying relief materials to 1,200 per day.
Support and opposition
Since the announcement of the Israeli military attack on Gaza, there has been both support and opposition within Israel and from the international community. Hanan Godar, who has been the Israeli ambassador to Nepal for two terms, said that the Israeli people want freedom from the terrorism of Hamas.
"Israel is ready to be flexible in all other matters, but will not compromise on terrorism and the security of Israeli land and Israeli people," he said to a Nepali journalist visiting Israel while making it clear about the long-standing conflict. Hanan, the former ambassador of Israel to Nepal, also claimed that there is a lot of pressure from the Israeli people to free Bipin Joshi from Nepal and the citizens of other countries. Janan Biber, the deputy chief of mission of the Israeli embassy in Kathmandu, also clarified the conflict policy of the Israeli government to the Nepalese journalist team and said, 'The main thing is that the terrorists should end and the Israeli people should be able to live in peace.'
On one day, the kibbutz and surrounding areas of southern Israel were attacked by Hamas, and on the next day, Iran attacked the Golen Heights, the tri-national border area with Lebanon and Syria, which was attacked by Iran. But the Israeli army has remained restrained. For a long time, the people have been pressing for military action against the terrorists, but the government and the army have adopted restraint so that no one is innocent in the attack.' - Hanan Godar, Israeli ex-ambassador to Nepal
But the war victims are demanding that action should be taken against the terrorists, Janan said. He also claimed that Israel's military operations are only aimed at terrorists.
On the day of the government's announcement of taking control of Gaza, traffic jams in the city of Tel Aviv were disrupted until late at night due to the demonstrations on Thursday. On Sunday too, there was a demonstration against the government under the leadership of ex-servicemen. Demonstrators marched along the streets of Jerusalem towards Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence.
According to the BBC, Max Kress, an ex-soldier of Israel, took a group with him and passed the march. He said he will reject the Israeli government's decision. "We are more than 350 soldiers who fought the war, but we reject Netanyahu's political war," he told the BBC. In addition to Jerusalem, there have been demonstrations in Tel Aviv, Haifa and other places.
37 more people died in the attack
37 more people died in the Israeli attack in Gaza. According to news agency AFP, Gaza's civil defense agency said at least 37 people were killed by Israeli fire. Among them, it is claimed that there are 30 citizens waiting to receive assistance.
Mahmoud Bassal, spokesman for the Civil Protection Agency, claimed that 12 people were killed when Israeli forces opened fire on a gathering near the border used for aid distribution in northern Gaza. He said that around 200 people were injured there.
Another 6 people were killed and 30 injured near the aid center in central Gaza, he said. Similarly, at least 3 people were killed in a drone attack near the southern city of Khan Yunis. But due to media restrictions in Gaza and the difficulty of accessing large parts of the territory, AFP said it did not have access to independent verification of the facts provided by civil defense and the Israeli military.
Thousands of Palestinians gather daily near food distribution centers in Gaza, including four run by the US- and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. Prime Minister Netanyahu is facing increasing pressure to agree to a ceasefire to bring the region's more than two million people back from famine and free people held hostage by Palestinian militants. Meanwhile, on Friday morning, the Israeli Security Council approved the operation plan to capture Gaza City.
Even though the people are pressing to take action against the terrorists, the Israeli government and the army have adopted restraint so that no one is innocent in the attack. Janan Biber, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Israeli Embassy
Prime Minister Netanyahu's office has released a 5-point declaration calling for an end to the war. It states that while providing humanitarian aid to civilians outside the war zone, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will make necessary preparations to capture Gaza City.
Israel's 5-point principle includes the disarmament of the Hamas group, the return of all hostages, the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, the occupation of Gaza by Israeli security forces, and the creation of an alternative civilian government without Hamas or the Palestinian Authority.
Recently, in a survey, a report was released saying that most of the Israeli people said that the government should reach an agreement with Hamas for the release of the hostages. Spread over an area of about 365 square km, Gaza is home to about 2.1 million people. Israeli military action followed the attack by Hamas on 7 October 2023. Since then, the Palestinian population has been decreasing.
'We don't want to occupy Gaza, we want to make it independent'
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a special address to the foreign media on Sunday with the aim of suppressing the opposition to the occupation of Gaza. "Our goal is not to occupy Gaza, but to liberate Gaza," Netanyahu told foreign journalists.
Defending the new military offensive launched in Gaza, he said that the terrorist Hamas must end. "We have no other choice, we must complete this task and defeat Hamas completely," he said.
He addressed the foreign media before the meeting of the National Security Council on Sunday evening. He has instructed the government officials to 'bring in more foreign journalists'. "This will be an important development, in the 22-month-long war, journalists should be allowed into Gaza along with the army."
