13 Nepalis have been rescued from Dharali and nearby areas of Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India. According to the Nepali Embassy in Delhi, 1 person was rescued from the affected area on Friday and 12 people were rescued on Saturday. The embassy said that although the names of those who were rescued were revealed, their surnames and addresses were not clear.
Birendra was rescued on Friday. Pratishna Shah, Komal Shah and Raman Shah, whose whereabouts were not disclosed on Saturday, have been rescued. They belong to the same family. Similarly, Ganga and her husband Dinesh have also been rescued. According to the embassy, Surya Shahi, Praveen Singh, Navraj Bohra, Ganesh Bahadur Shahi, Raj Bahadur Shahi, Dipendra Shahi and Narendra Shahi have also been rescued.
Those who were rescued are in Haridwar and Dehradun in India. "Until now, 13 Nepalis have been rescued, there is no information about the condition of the others," said Prakash Malla, a counselor at the embassy in Delhi.
According to Uttarkashi DM Prashant Arya, two dead bodies have been found in the Dharali market area which was destroyed by Khirganga river. "Phone service has started since Saturday, now it will be clear how many are missing and how many are safe," DM Arya said, "Search and rescue work is going on simultaneously." Those trapped in Dharali area are being rescued by helicopter. Also, the injured are being treated in that area. Teams including army, police, NDRF, SDRF have been mobilized for rescue.
On Tuesday, in Harsheel area of Uttarkashi, Arighopte rains The flood in Khirganga river caused Dharali market disaster . Hotels and houses in Dharali Bazaar on the banks of Bhagirathi River have been flooded. Some houses have been washed away and taken to Bhagirathi river. In Dharali Bazar area, the flood has destroyed up to 30/35 meters . It is estimated that people may have been buried in the houses and hotels in the blasted area . Uttarkashi Police has estimated that at least 50 people are missing.
