13 people from Jajarkot and 5 people from Bardia are without contact after the floods that hit the Indian state of Uttarakhand last Tuesday and Wednesday. Dharali market in Uttarkashi district was flooded due to 'cloud burst' (arighopte rain) on Tuesday and landslides occurred in Paudi Garhwal on Wednesday. Presuming that Nepalis were involved in both these incidents, the local levels have requested the Nepalese government for assistance.

More than 13 people of Jajarkot's Kushe Rural Municipality-2 have lost contact, and the local level has taken the initiative to rescue them. According to Harichandra Basnet, chairman of the rural municipality, it is suspected that people from other wards of the municipality are also missing. "We are finding out their names and addresses," he said.

The death of Karna Bahadur Singh, Ram Bahadur Singh, Man Bahadur Singh, Nim Singh, Ravin Singh of Talegaon-2 of Kushe Rural Municipality has been informed by Man Bahadur Singh's son Naveen. 21 year old Naveen went to work with his father. Ward president Man Bahadur Singh said that Naveen informed that there are approximately 20 people working with him from the same ward. 

Similarly, Chairman Basnet said that Janak Bahadur Shahi of Jumla Tila Rural Municipality and another unnamed person belonging to Rukum Ghar are also without contact after the flood. "Naveen left a voice message on messenger for the ward president. Based on that, I have informed the administration, Naveen is not being contacted," he said.

Basnet said that locals go to India every year for labor and to carry apples. According to him, the now uncontacted Nepalis had reached there 3/4 months ago to work. "It was found that many people are not in contact with their families, we are investigating," he said. 

Prakash Malla, Consul of the Nepali Embassy in Delhi, said that no official information has been received from the Indian police regarding the missing Nepalese in the Uttarkashi incident. He also informed that he is trying to understand based on the information received from the local level. 274 people have been rescued in the Dharali incident. But not all of them have been identified," he said. "Even though the bodies of 4 people have been found, it has been reported that all of them are Indian citizens."

Similarly, 5 Nepali people have gone missing after a landslide occurred on the banks of the Indus river near Madhera Khatoula, about 1 km away from village Bakuda in Paudi Garhwal of Uttarakhand on Wednesday morning. The Nepali workers who went to work on the road construction were living in tents on the banks of the river.

There are three people from the same family from Madhuvan Municipality-6 Village No. 4 of Bardia, one from Madhuvan-5 Village No. 8 and one person who has not been identified in the ward of Madhuvan. In the landslide  39-year-old Narendra of Pari Madhuvan-6 

Khadka, his 30-year-old wife Saraswati and 2-year-old son Roman are missing, said Narendra's uncle Uddhav Khadka. 45-year-old Ramu Periyar's wife Amrita of village number 8 and 21-year-old Subas Vick of Madhuvan are also missing in the landslide.

Uddhav said that he got the information about the landslide when he was preparing to go to work after having lunch in the tent around 10 am on Wednesday. Chitra Bahadur Poudel, who coordinated the delivery of workers from the village to India, is also there. According to Paudel, it was raining continuously for three/four days in that area. The Nepali workers were staying in 10/12 tents on the banks of the Indus River. They were trapped after a landslide occurred on Wednesday morning along with the rain. "The landslide swept away the people with their tents, they took them down to the river while we were watching, but nothing was found after that," said Poudel. 

The Khadka family was in one tent while Amrita and her husband lived in separate tents. 73 people from Bardia were employed in Paudi Garhwal. Paudel informed that they made three groups and brought the laborers from Bardia. "Except for the five missing people, all are in contact," he said. The family is worried about the news of the disappearance of the daughter-in-law and grandson along with the only son Narendra. Narendra's father Chudamani has gone to Paudi Garhwal after getting information about his son's disappearance. On June 6, Narendra went to Jampuri in Garhwal along with his family to work as a daily wage worker in road construction. The contractor used to give 500 Bharu for daily wages. He had gone to Paudi Garhwal for work twice before.

Amrita's daughter-in-law Vimala Raji said that she got the information about her mother-in-law's disappearance. "In-laws went to Paudi Garhwal last Baisakh to celebrate New Year," she said, "husband has gone to work in Ladakh, India." Paudel said that Lakshmi Pariyar of Madhuvan-8 and Bhupendra Khatri of Madhuvan-7 who were injured in the incident are being treated at Sushila Tiwari Hospital in Haldwani. Prakash Malla, Consul of the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi, said that 5 Nepali people are missing and some are injured in the Paudi Garhwal incident. He said that he got the information from the Indian authorities that Bimal Vick, Gopal Gurung, Ram Bahadur Pariyar, Lakshmi Pariyar and some unnamed Nepalis from Bardia were among the injured.
