Lakhan Thapa's comrade-in-arms Jaisingh Chumi, who revolted against the Rana rule for the first time, is the fourth-generation descendant of Magar, Ratna Singh. Ratnasingh, who has lived for 90 years, has only one demand, 'My son (Jaisingh) should be declared a martyr.'

Lakhan and Jaisingh, who were working in Gorakh Gana at that time, started a public uprising in 1927 without returning to Paltan after coming on a one-month leave. Kau built a palace surrounded by a fort in Bhangar. It was Chumi who got the responsibility to take care of the palace. On February 2, 1933, Lakhan and Chumi were executed on the same day in the fort premises on the order of Rana Prime Minister Jung Bahadur for rebelling against the Rana regime. The demand to declare the same Jaisingh Chumi Magar as a martyr has been raised time and again.

In the year 2056, the cabinet meeting declared Lakhan Thapa a martyr. The then cabinet meeting on October 3, 2072 declared Lakhan Thapa as Nepal's first martyr. Jaisingh, who was sentenced to death along with Thapa, is still being neglected by the local people.

"At that time, Lakhan Thapa was hanged on the right side and Jaisingh on the right side," says Ratna Singh, "They died with the same blood, there is no great desire, at this age it was enough to hear Baje (Jaisingh) being declared a martyr."

Jaisingh Chumi Magar's statue has been installed in the rebel fort complex of Lakhan Thapa, who first rebelled against the colonial rule. "I was happy to hear that the Shalik will be made. I told them that if no one gives me the land, I will give them my land," he said.

There are 43 families of Jaisingh's last generation who are scattered in Darvung, Rana village, Veerenchok, Taklung along with Kahule Bhangar. Lakhan Thapa, the first warrior who brought Nepal's political rebel consciousness, was asked to declare Jaisingh Chumi Magar as a martyr even during the declaration of the first martyr of Nepal. A decision was made by the executive meeting of Shaheed Lakhan Rural Municipality on 26th October 2078 and a demand was made to declare martyrs to the state and union government along with Jaisingh Chumi Magar.

Supati Gurung, Sukdev Gurung, Kalu Lamsal, Sant Gyandil Das, Kural Rana Magar, who supported Lakhan Thapa in the public uprising, were recommended by the executive meeting to be declared as democratic warriors, he said.

"Our demand is that the state should declare those who played an important role in the first people's revolution as democratic warriors," he said. At the place where Lakhan Thapa's fort is located, the club has been named as 'Nepal's First Martyr Lakhan Thapa Magar and Jaisingh Chumi Democratic Club'. Memorial Day is celebrated on February 2 every year in the organization of the club.

The rural municipality is also named after Lakhan Thapa . The municipality has also been giving a public holiday throughout the municipality on February 2 of every year. The foundation has also been pushing the demand that Lakhan Thapa, who was declared the first martyr, should be declared a national monument.

Jaisingh Chumi Magar has been conducting a campaign to be declared a martyr.
