The National Independent Party has won the preliminary counting of the by-elections held in ward number 16 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. According to the Election Commission, Rozina Shrestha of the National Independent Party won with 2,902 votes.

UML's Lakshmiratna Tuladhar, who is in second place, got 2,220 votes.  Similarly, 2 thousand  Congress's Devendra Pathak stood third with 214 votes. Meen Bahadur Manandhar of CPN United Samajwadi has got 1 thousand 92 votes. Rashtriya Prajatantra Party candidate Shyamakrishna Shrestha got 774 votes. In Kathmandu-16, 10 thousand 558 votes were cast and 180 votes were invalid.

After the death of Mukund Rizal, who won the ward president from the Congress in the local elections of 2079, by-elections were held in Kathmandu-16. Rizal won the 2079 election with 4 thousand 18 votes. Likewise, UML's Lakshmiratna Tuladhar  He got 3 thousand 110 votes .
