Parsa Constituency No. 3, Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate Ramakant Prasad Chaurasia has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives. 57-year-old Chaurasia began his parliamentary journey by securing 29,679 votes.

His rival Surendra Prasad Chaudhary of Nepali Congress secured 16,366 votes. Chaurasia defeated Chaudhary by a margin of 13,313 votes.

Chaurasia, a resident of Birgunj, is a new face who has come into politics from a construction business background. His father is Gaya Prasad Chaurasia. He has studied up to SLC. Chaurasia, who has been active in the construction business for a long time, was contesting the election for the first time this time.

After winning the election, he explained his victory by linking it to the people's desire for change. 'For 35 years, the same face had been misleading the people by showing various temptations, the people had become frustrated. This time, the people have chosen change,' said Chaurasia.

According to his neighbor and friend Mohan Chaurasia, Ramakant Chaurasia is a development-loving and social worker. ‘He did not have active political experience, but his family has been involved in social service for a long time,’ he said. ‘His family has made a great contribution in the construction of structures including dharamshalas, monasteries, health post buildings and more.’

Locals have expressed confidence that Chaurasia, as a person closely connected to the society, will now fulfill the people’s expectations as an MP. Chaurasia, who made his mark in public life through the construction business, is now seen as a ‘sign of change’ chosen by the voters of Parsa-3.
