As he was about to receive his certificate of election, Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) spokesperson Manish Jha pulled his nephew Harshit Jha, who was standing nearby, closer to him. Harshit had a photo of his father Amit Jha in his hand.
During the joy, Manish remembered his brother. When he received his certificate of victory, he kept his brother Amit as a witness. ‘My brother always wanted me to enter politics and contest elections,’ Manish told Kantipur. ‘When I reached that place (when I won the seat of parliament), I remembered my brother.’
On Falgun 19, 2077, Manish’s brother Amit died in Kathmandu due to a brain injury at a young age. The organization Nav Mithila Foundation, of which brother Amit is the president, organized the Janakpur Literature Festival at Janaki Temple in Janakpur on the same day. Manish had reached Janakpur carrying brother Amit’s body. He emotionally told the sad news of his brother Amit while climbing the stage of the festival. And from there, he announced the award in his memory.
‘My brother’s inspiration is in all my struggles, positions and opportunities till now,’ said Manish, who won the House of Representatives seat. ‘His memory will remain.’ Amit’s son Harshit expressed happiness that his uncle Manish had him and his father as witnesses while accepting the certificate of victory. ‘I felt very happy. I remembered my father. I remembered his love and affection.’ Harshit also claimed that his uncle Manish will do good work.
