Saroj Kumar Yadav has taken over as the Chief Minister despite the Supreme Court initially ruling that the process of appointing the Chief Minister of Madhesh Province was unconstitutional and issuing an interim order to maintain the status quo.
Yadav, who took oath at a hotel in Bardibas on Monday, was still staying at the hotel after returning to Janakpur. On Tuesday afternoon, he entered through a small gate next to the Armed Police Force barracks behind the Madhesh Province Building and assumed office.
While Yadav was taking office, a protest was going on outside Gate No. 2 of the Madhesh Building. The police have used force to disperse the protesters, while they are pelting stones at the police.
