Congress's Khadga Shahi has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives in Mugu. He won with 7,914 votes, while UML's Purna Bahadur Rokaya was limited to 6,718 votes. 

Shahi is the former party district president. Born on Bhadra 6, 2024, he is a permanent resident of Khatyad Rural Municipality in Mugu. Shahi, who completed his studies up to the proficiency certificate level, had been active in politics since 2046. He was arrested while participating in the 2046 movement. He also spent a week in jail.

He became the Congress district vice president in 2052 and was elected as the Congress district president in 2072. He has been a continuous Congress general convention representative since 2052.

Shahi was a candidate for a provincial assembly member in 2074. At that time, Chandra Bahadur Shahi won from the CPN-UML with 6,845 votes, while he was limited to 4,612 votes. This time, the same Shahi became a candidate from the Nepali Communist Party and came in third place with 5,558 votes.

In the last House of Representatives election, Ain Bahadur Shahi of the Nepali Congress had won from Mugu with 14,706 votes. Shahi won the election by carrying on his legacy. Until then, Mugu was considered a stronghold of the UML.

Shahi, the newly elected member of the House of Representatives, said that he would take the initiative to bring the issues of the district's development, overall development and people's livelihood to the parliament. He said that his past experiences and political activism have made him a leader sensitive to the problems of the people and a solution-oriented leader. "Mugu has not yet been able to come into the mainstream of development. I plan to draw the government's attention through parliament to resolve the problems seen in development and service delivery in the district," he said. "I will make efforts to improve the livelihood of the people by prioritizing roads, education, health, and employment."
