Birendra Bista, a native of Biratnagar, came to Britain to study medicine in the 1950s. After studying neurology, he realized the need for a neuro hospital in Biratnagar. At that time, even in Kathmandu, treatment for neuro patients had not started.

 

In 2000, he established a neuro hospital in Biratnagar. This hospital has now become a treatment-destination not only for patients from Madhesh and Koshi region, but also for patients from the neighboring state of Bihar in India.

Neurological hospitals have started opening in Koshi province. However, the neuro hospital has created a separate identity. Especially for Indian patients, this hospital has become like a 'Life Donation Centre'.

Parmesh Yadav, who came from Bhagalpur in Vihar, India for treatment of his father's head, said, "This neuro hospital has a very high reputation in Vihar." Whether it is a simple road accident or a complex neuro-related problem, Indians come here across the border for treatment. Yadav said, "It is easier and cheaper for us to come to Biratnagar than Delhi and Kolkata."

According to the hospital administration, about 40 percent of the total patients who come for treatment are Indians. It has become a trusted treatment center for patients from Araria, Supaul, Madhyapura, Saharsha, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Kisanganj and other areas of Vihar. Rajesh Bhattarai, operational director of the hospital, said that after eye, Indians come more for neuro-related treatment. "Perhaps Indians wanted to come to our hospital after getting reliable services," said Bhattarai.

A new generation in neuro treatment The first neuro hospital in the past is on the shoulders of the new generation. 5 young doctors including 4 surgeons are leading this old hospital. Dr. Succeeded in creating a distinct identity in Biratnagar in a short time. Roshan has done his MCH in Neuro Surgery from Veer Hospital (NYMS). He received MS degree in General Surgery from Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu and MBBS from BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Sunsari, Dharan.

Neuro Hospital Biratnagar has been providing neuro surgery services for 15 years. At present, senior neurosurgeon Dr. Dr. Sunil Kumar Das, Senior Neurosurgeon. Dr. Ashishjung Thapa, Neurosurgeon. Khatiwada has also joined a team of experienced doctors including Alok Jha. Janakpur Dr. Sunil Kumar Das studied in Janakpur till 12th standard. He completed his MBBS on scholarship at SMS Medical College, Jaipur, Rajasthan. He studied there till 2013 and worked for 1 year in the emergency department of BP Koirala Academy of Health Sciences in Dharan. He then went to Chandigarh, India for post graduation, where he completed his MS General Surgery in 3 years. After that he got two years of work experience in Delhi and Noida.

Did MCH Neuro Surgery from AIIMS Hospital, which was a 3 year program. Then worked in Kolkata for 3 years. Only a month and a half ago, he joined Neuro Hospital Biratnagar. "I was working in India for 16 years, I planned to come to Nepal after being called by the hospital," said Dr. Sunil, "I am very happy to practice the experience and technical knowledge gained while in India."

dr. Ashishjung Thapa is an experienced neurosurgeon. who has done MBBS and MS from China. He is from Biratnagar and has been working as a medical officer since February 2068. "The neuro surgery service started in 2066, I joined after 2 years," he said.

In his opinion, doctors and hospitals are not the only role in curing any patient, but many other factors are important. "The aim of any doctor is to save the patient even in the last case," Dr. Ashish said, "We are always working sensitively. We are constantly trying to save the patient's life.

Dr. Alok Jha is also a member of the neurosurgery team. He has been working here for a year. He joined the hospital after completing his post graduation from Bangladesh. Dr. Alok said, 'Using the latest technology in neurosurgery, more energy and experience is being gained in the surgical process.'

Dr. Sunand Paudel is a neurologist. According to him, neurologists and surgeons have a relationship like nails and flesh. That is why they are united and serving the patients. As it happens, they are working hard to provide good service to the customers.

dr. Hrithik is not only the medical officer of Bista Hospital, but also the director. He said that the Neuro Hospital aims to bring the new generation together and provide excellent service to the clients.
