Shankar was influenced by his mother and uncle and was inspired to go to Deuda. 55-year-old mother Geeta Malla also sings Deuda in every fair, festival and festival held in the village. 

Geeta's mother's 5 sisters and her uncle Lalitjang Shahi in Mugu's Khatyad Rural Municipality are also famous for Deuda couplets. Shankar, who was influenced by the Deuda atmosphere in his mother's and maternal grandmother's homes, was not allowed by his father to go to different districts to play Deuda.

His father wanted his son to study and get a job because of the family's poor financial situation. His village, which takes one day by car and 3 days on foot from Martadi, the headquarters of Bajura, is still remote. 

Shankar said that he did not stop playing deuda no matter how difficult the situation may be because he inherited the hereditary qualities from his mother and uncle.

I sang Deuda at the famous Anante Mela there when I went to Martadi for the first time 8 years ago. At that time, many people were surprised that even such a small child called Deuda,' he said, 'Mother was most happy when he went home as Deuda in Martadi. My father was sad. He said that his father tried to keep himself far away from Deuda because the society does not consider it acceptable to go from village to village playing Deuda and there is no income.

Some time ago, when about 15 men came to Mugu to sing Deuda, he told them that he alone sang Deuda to them. In 2079 and 2080, he won first place in the Sudurpaschim Province level Deuda competition.
