Pop singer Om Vikram Bista, famous in the previous generation, came down to Bharatpur on Friday evening to heat up the chilling Chitwan with musical atmosphere. 68-year-old Bisht started the series of 'live concerts' with his song 'Malai Awaaz Deo', which was recorded 16 years ago, exuding youthful vigor.
Bishta, who introduced 'Pop Samrat', performed his famous songs in a program held at a local hotel in Chitwan.
I came to Chitwan 43 years ago to sing. While talking to Prasad Shrestha, an old singer from Chitwan and the producer of 'Kanchi' film, who was sitting in front of the 'Prasadji' audience, he remembered the old days of enthusiasm. He said, 'What was the atmosphere like at that time?' Then the atmosphere was not less. Audiences of all age groups flocked to the concert.
Concert coordinator Vigyanlal Shrestha said that the program was held in honor of Bista who became famous by singing different style of songs in his time. It is also an honor for him. Even the new generation longs to listen to him. We made the program with that in mind, it was confirmed," Shrestha said. To support Bishta, a team of instrumentalists, senior guitarist Suvarna Limbu, drummer Dev Rana and others were present at the same time.
"At that time, my songs were popular because of the lyrics and voice of the song as well as the different types of music by the instrumentalists," said singer Bisht. Singer Anjila Shrestha, singer and musician Sahanlal Pradhan from Chitwan also gave their performances in the program organized by Narayangadh Rotary Club.
