In West Nawalparasi, 1,670 children were found to be malnourished.

In the nutrition audit conducted jointly by the Health Office, local level and Helen Keller International through nutrition project in the district, 254 moderate malnourished people and 45 severely malnourished people were found in Palhinandan Rural Municipality.

In Bardghat Municipality, 224 moderate, 38 severe, 239 moderate in Ramgram Municipality, 34 severe, 156 moderate in Sunwal Municipality, 10 severe, 197 moderate in Sarawal Rural Municipality, 22 severe, 22 moderate in Pratappur Rural Municipality, 21 severe and 193 moderate and 35 severe malnutrition in Susta Rural Municipality. 

Agand Bahadur Shahi, head of District Health Office Nawalparasi said that moderate and severe malnutrition is included in the treatment. The nutritional status of children from 6 to 59 months has been audited . Shalikram Pokharel, program coordinator of Base Nepal, said that Helen Keller International is also working in the district in coordination with government agencies. Children up to 59 months of age are screened for malnutrition.

Free treatment and nutritious food are provided to children who need treatment and need nutritious food. Malnutrition has also been found among children from educated and financially strong families due to the inability to provide the necessary food and quantity to children.

Health workers say that in rural areas, children become malnourished due to the lack of necessary knowledge and the fact that families are unable to prepare and feed nutritious food.
