On this day (April 4) in 1975, Microsoft was founded. In the era of the typewriter, Bill Gates and Paul Allen, childhood friends, started a computer software company. Initially based in New Mexico, the company was relocated to Washington State four years later.

In 1986, the company became a public company by issuing public shares. Within a year, 31-year-old Bill Gates became the world's youngest billionaire. Microsoft later became the world's largest technology company.

According to the recently published list by Forbes magazine, Microsoft is number one among the most valuable companies in the world. The company's market value is more than 30 trillion 10 billion US dollars. Similarly, Gates, one of the founders of the company, is number seven in the list of the world's billionaires.
