On the eve of Martyr's Day, the Far West Province Government has recommended the Ministry of Home Affairs to declare two people as martyrs.
The cabinet meeting held on Monday, Kakad Shanta Motipur born Baldev Shahi (Bakabir) and Lokraj Dhakal of Lamkichuha Municipality-4 of Kailali have been recommended for martyrdom, according to the Chief Minister and Cabinet Office.
District Coordination Committee Achham recommended the provincial government to declare Bakbir a martyr, while Dhakal was recommended by Lamkichuha Municipality.
It is mentioned in the recommendation of District Coordination Committee Achham that Bakabir Jung Bahadur Rana, who campaigned against the oppression of the Rana ruler, was killed while fighting against the tyranny of Rana.
In the recommendation made by the Lamkichuha municipality for declaring Dhakal a martyr, it is mentioned that he was the first person killed during the conflict. It is mentioned that Dhakal, who was also a member of Tarun Dal Kailali at the time, was killed by the then armed rebels while he was sleeping at home on 04 Jan 055.
